7 days Machame route – Kilimanjaro specialist recommendation

7 days Machame route is the best choice to climb Kilimanjaro even for beginners due to its gradual acclimatization profile. It is easier than any other Kilimanjaro route itineraries. No technical climbing skills are required for this route. You only need trekking poles. Hence, Machame 7-day itinerary is strongly recommended to everyone due to its highest summit success rates. If you are a strong trekker with previous trekking experience and low budget, you can choose Machame 6-day trek.

Machame Route 7 days Vs Machame Route 6 days

The 7-day Machame route is more gradual, allowing better acclimatization with longer hiking days. It starts at Machame Gate, traversing lush rainforests, heath, and alpine desert before summiting Kilimanjaro. This extended itinerary offers an extra day for acclimatization at Karanga Camp, enhancing success rates. In contrast, the 6-day variant condenses the trek, requiring more strenuous hiking and potentially impacting acclimatization. It skips the extra acclimatization day, ascending directly from Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp. While it's a quicker option, it increases the risk of altitude-related issues and lowers summit success rates. Both routes traverse diverse landscapes before summiting Kilimanjaro.

Machame route 7 days Vs Lemosho route 7 days

Machame route-7 days and Lemosho route 7 days share the same similarity of 7-day itineraries, high acclimatization profiles, excellent summit success rates, and beautiful views. The key difference between these two itineraries is the starting point with a car drop-off. 7 days Machame route starts at Machame Gate with an altitude of 1800 meters above the sea level. While 7 days Lemosho route starts at Lemosho Gate with high altitude of 2100 meters above sea level. This means you will experience a certain level of acclimatization jump-start on Lemosho route, which might feel uncomfortable in the first 2-3 days but fades away as the hike continues. In contrast, you will have a more gradual acclimatization experience with Machame route on Kilimanjaro. Also at Machame Camp and Shira Cave Camp of Machame route, you will be rewarded with the beautiful views of Mount Meru far above in the distance from Arusha National Park.
